Three and a half miles of loveliness along the north bank of the River Thames, between Kingston and Hampton Court Bridges.

Looking south west, with Kingston Bridge about a mile behind us, the sign marks a fork in Barge Walk where people on foot can opt to avoid cyclists by using this separate narrower section on the left, hugging the river closely for about two miles. Cyclists are obliged to take the right fork. Strangely the majority of people on foot seem to do this too.
Post 81 includes more of the wild flowers etc to be found along this stretch.
You probably noticed this photograph is the cover picture for A Hundred and One Little Histories. It also makes for a rather splendid T-shirt IMHO.

Red arrow: The location of the sign above, on which my bike is leaning. (Now gone - vandalised I’d guess, based on the state of the bent grey metal pole that used to support it).
