Foody Frolics with Friends in and around London
The Plough, East Sheen August 2023
A lovely "village" pub just eight miles or so west of Big Ben where they served us:
- Pulchritudinous Pea Ravioli
- Comely Crab Cakes
- Scrumptious Grilled Sardines
- Tremendous Trout Salad
- Bostin' Burgers

The Tabernacle, Powis Square, Notting Hill January 2023
The Tabernacle Twist
I’m Caribbean cuisine here we come,
No, not a Billy Ocean song.
Rather a tabernacle treat,
Let's Get it On.
"Sorry, we've no gas, restaurant's closed,
The kitchen's firmly shut.
Try the Turkish down the road,
It's next to Pizza Hut".
So tabernacle plans crashed and burned,
Lunch was diverted, alas.
Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat,
Kebabs 'cos there was no gas.

Santa Maria Pizzeria, Catherine Wheel Road, Brentford May 2022
Great pizza at a novel and quirky location inside a vintage classic car showroom / garage.
Lovely pizzas in a surreal setting,
But take care if you order a classic.
You may get more than a Margherita,
And end up completely brassic.

The Spice of Life Jazz Club, Soho March 2022
The Spice of Life An atmospheric basement,
Perfect to relax.
With some laid back, slinky jazz,
Love a bit of sax.

The Abercorn Arms, Teddington January 2022
Abercorn Qualms
Recently refurbished,
A nice looking venue.
Same could be said,
For the new lunch menu.
That's five for brill,
Four for mussels ...
"Sorry, both are withdrawn,
Try the roast with brussels".
Feeling flat and somewhat shell shocked,
Whilst dodging the lure of sprouts,
There was still choice aplenty,
Thrice-fried chips quelling any doubts.

The Dove, Hammersmith, north bank of the Thames August 2021
The Dove
Old and somewhat battered,
Sitting by the Thames ...
That's enough of me,
Here's The Dove, among London's gems.

the quality of the water in said canal (which is particularly pleasing to be able to say in
current times).
22. The Plough, East Sheen, August 14th 2023
Work-in-progress, as there are hopefully more lunches to come, and possibly more illustrations.
